October Prep: Which Part of Your Leadership Deserves to Be Honored?

October reminds us that beauty doesn’t come from staying the same; it comes from transformation.


Leadership evolves in the same way. Our strengths deepen, shift, and take on new expressions, often through experiences we’d rather avoid, like conflict.


In a recent workshop I facilitated, one leader shared:


“The workshop helped me to identify personal conflict triggers and my reaction to those triggers that are not always productive. It helped me to think of things that I can do to help myself remain calm and opt for the best possible solution when I have a conflict.”


They also reflected on how their natural strengths—empathy, harmony, and positivity—can sometimes lead them to avoid conflict rather than address it directly. Through the session, they realized that collaboration could transform those same strengths into something even more impactful.


And when asked about their next step, they said:


“My next step is to breathe, articulate my words better, and not withdraw or build walls when I feel that I am in conflict.”


This is what evolution looks like in leadership:


Recognizing where we’ve been, noticing where we might hold back, and choosing to honor new ways of showing up with clarity and courage.
